Wimbledon day 7: Fear and loathing in SW19

Dennis Racquet here. It’s day seven at Wimbledon and I’m drenched.

Today wasn’t a wash out though. Andy Murray—the defending champion and Scotland and/or Britain’s single hope of greatness—is through to the fourth round. The crowds are still as ready to roar with bellyache whenever a rogue would-be comedian blurts out a “come on, Tim!” to much harrumphing and ha-dee-has.

It wouldn’t be Wimbledon without the weather though, or the strict, suffocating formality of it all. Keep off the grass? I was half expecting to kneel down for a better look and find “don’t tread on me” printed out on each green blade.

Viktoria Kuzmova’s public could have done with a fraction of that focus during her game on court nine. As you see, their attentions were being drawn elsewhere, into the spectacle taking place next door in court eight. Still. Viktoria’s loss is the lens’ gain.
