Offside’s mid-week games in pictures: Liverpool, United, Arsenal & Chelsea

As you may have gathered from early sunsets and festive promotions down every aisle, we are now in December, which means that not only is Rudolph in the midst of his pre-match warm-up, but football is set to soon become an almost daily occurrence. Rejoice!

Mid-week Premier League action made a triumphant return to the fixture schedule this week as Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea faced up to the likes of Leicester City, Stoke City, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively.

Marc Atkins was at the King Power Stadium to shoot the visit of Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool on Tuesday night, with the Reds looking for a boost ahead of the busy festive period against the division’s bottom-placed club. The weekend featured six games for Offside, with five matches in the Premier League and one in the Championship covered by our team of photographers.

Ryan Smyth kicked things off in the English second tier at The Valley where Mick McCarthy’s title challenging Ipswich Town faced a Charlton Athletic side within striking distance of the play-off places.

Offside’s weekend in pictures: Messi, Moyes & the Premier League

The time for FIFA friendlies and European qualifiers is over. The Premier League and the club scene is back once again, and the Offside team have been busy capturing the weekend’s action from across England and Spain.

First up was Brentford versus Fulham in the Championship. Marc Atkins shot the game at Griffin Park.

Offside’s weekend in pictures: Premier League & Autumn internationals

Offside’s recent weekend round-ups have featured a few mentions of action from La Liga, with the spotlight usually falling upon the early adventures of Luis Suarez in a Barcelona shirt.

This time however, we stretch our focus to a different type of ball rather than a foreign topflight football competition, with England facing off against New Zealand at Twickenham.

Offside’s weekend in pictures: Man City win in the derby & more

Another busy, extended weekend saw Offside’s team in the thick of the action both in the depths of the Premier League relegation battle at the top level tug of war over Champions League places.

Saturday started off at Stamford Bridge for the team where Marc Atkins was on hand with his camera as Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea hosted Harry Redknapp’s QPR.

It was billed as a clash between unstoppable title favourites and incoherent no hopers, but to the surprise of most onlookers (bar those who placed their faith in unexpected narratives and the “bets off” competitive nature of England’s top flight) the R’s were able to trouble their hosts. Offside’s weekend in pictures: United versus Chelsea and more

Attention wasn’t just focused upon the Premier League this weekend. The glamour of El Clasico caught the eyes of supporters across Europe while the more earthy appeal of a proper scrap down in the Championship offered something different to English football fans.
